Mandarin Singing Academy is an innovative educational platform dedicated to teaching Mandarin Chinese through music, singing, and intercultural creativity. Founded by Dr Yanyi Lu, the Academy brings together research-informed pedagogy, practical classroom experience, and high-quality digital resources to support engaging and accessible Mandarin learning for children, teachers, schools, and cultural organisations.

Built upon years of development through the award-winning Chinese Whispers project at the University of Hull, the Academy introduces a unique Mandarin Singing Curriculum that integrates language learning with musical participation. Through carefully designed warm-ups, core learning songs, concert repertoire, and teaching videos, learners are encouraged to develop pronunciation, confidence, cultural understanding, and communication skills in an enjoyable and memorable way.

The Academy also provides teacher training workshops and curriculum resources for educators and institutions seeking creative approaches to language teaching. Designed for both music specialists and non-specialist teachers, the programme supports inclusive, interactive, and intercultural learning environments.

At Mandarin Singing Academy, we believe that music is not simply an addition to language learning — it is a powerful pathway into language, culture, expression, and human connection.
